Ah, it's the additional "-I" switch below that fixes the compile-time
error.

I suspect that using the output from:

glib-config --cflags
glib-config --libs

Will avoid these issues, but I don't seem to have a box with glib2
installed to hand.  What do those 2 commands report for you?
