[Xapian-devel] GSoC

Hi,
  I'm Abhishek, 1st year undergraduate from IIT Bombay, India. I have
experience with c++ and java.
I would be happy to happy to contribute to any of the following
project which require c++ and or java:
1)Weighting Schemes
2)Dynamic Snippets
3)SWIG-based Java Bindings
4)Improve Spelling Correction
5)Matcher Optimization

Most of the topics are pretty straight forward but there are a couple
of things which I would like to know:

Weigting schemes: I think instead of developing new schemes the
existing BM25 could be improved by using the stochstic optimization or
something else. I would be happy to work on develop a new scheme if
thats a better option.

Java Bindings:  The topic is pretty straight forward just a trivial
question, which platform is the work expected to be in preferably,
Windows/Linux, as the commands and header files will change
accordingly right?

Lastly, Im a first timer to GSoC, so are there anything else I should
know or do which might tip the scales in my favor??
