It would be handy to know what the differences are. I had a look at the
site and the diffs unhelpfully seem to include all of the debian
subdirectory, but the only obvious change is that they just add a
useless template README.Debian. And I guess they use cdbs instead of
debhelper from what you say above.
If there are any useful changes, we should incorporate them. Having
rival packages is just confusing.
