Incidentally, do people think we should rename the omega tarball to
xapian-omega (this would also change the default installation directory
similarly)?

It seems the name "omega" is a little overused, and I believe all the
packages are called xapian-omega already, so it would make package
installation and "by hand" installations more consistent, which makes
documentation and support a little easier.

If we're going to, 1.0 is a good time to do it.
