Just a minor FYI, there is a draft document regarding possible solutions 
to bug 128 being passed around internally, which will eventually be 
passed through this list as either an implementation suggestion or 
interim solution once at least the basic premises of the bug 
description/notes is met.  It will be after clarification from your end 
that development will start on our end, since it's not actively being 
developed on the Xapian side.

Is there a better place to ask questions about internals besides this 
mailing list?  Or is this the preferred method of communication?
