It's time we retired the Xapian 1.2 release series, but there were a
few useful changes on the branch since the last release so I've
rolled a final 1.2.25 release to push out those plus a few more
And with that, the 1.2 series is officially closed. If you've not
already migrated to 1.4 or at least made plans to do so, it's time
Since 1.2.16, release tarballs are compressed with xz instead of gzip,
as it provides much better compression, without being too slow to
decompress. (For now at least, Search::Xapian is still gzipped.)
We decided not to provide multiple formats for the downloads. The size
reduction provided by xz is greater than the size of the xz source code
download, so installing it doesn't seem an onerous requirement.
The wiki has a summary of the most notable changes:
A big thanks to the following people for helping to make this release
a reality: Aaron Li, Kirill A. Shutemov, David Bremner, James Aylett,
Janko, Lucas Nussbaum.
If I've missed anyone out, you can claim an extra big thankyou.
As always, if you encounter problems, please report them here, or to
the bug-tracker: https://xapian.org/bugs
Since 1.2.17, I'm providing detached GPG signatures for each of the release
tarballs (for each tarball, the signature is in a corresponding file
with ".asc" appended).
Here are the SHA256 checksums of the released files:
We're no longer providing SHA1 checksums.
