Hi everyone. We've been having increasing problems with GMail delivery
recently, so one of the things we're trying in order to improve matters
is to switch to reply munging, which means we're in control of
DKIM/DMARC status rather than relying on every individual repliers'
setup (and hoping we don't break signatures or violate SPF rules at the
same time).
This means that all mail through the list should now come from the list
address. 20 years ago this was a regular and heated debate on mailing
lists, but given the volume of traffic we don't expect it to be a
problem. (That said: do please double check if you mean to reply to
someone off-list that you aren't accidentally replying to the list instead.)
I'll be resubscribing a number of gmail addresses that were removed
automatically when gmail delayed all of them repeatedly. We're hoping
that they will survive better now, but gmail prioritises various aspects
of experience such that it isn't actually that good at receiving email
from outside the mainstream operators. (I have a gmail account that
simply doesn't receive emails from some companies - they don't even
appear in spam.) If you rely on getting Xapian news in a timely fashion,
I'd recommend either not using gmail or perhaps switching to digests.
You can also check in on the web archives[1], which are public.
