I uploaded packages of 2.0.0 to Debian experimental earlier this week.
The API (both C++ and bindings) should be largely compatible with code
written for 1.4.x, but older code may still be using features deprecated
in 1.4.0 or earlier, and there are also a few corner case compatibility
issues, so some of the packages which depend on Xapian will need changes.
(This is why the Debian packages are still in experimental currently.)

If you find further problems while updating, please report them.
