Comment:

 Also trunk r13566 stops us running changesorter1 and oldchangesorter1
 under the remote backend, where they now fail!

 Backported both of these changes for 1.0.17 in r13591.

 Tweaking this bug to clearly be for the silent failure to work, and
 closing it.  I've opened #413 to track actually implementing this.
