 Thanks for your report.

 Currently replication uses a lot of the remote backend machinery, so if
 you disable the remote backend then replication fails to link, but there's
 no option to disable replication.  These issues are already covered by
 ticket #361.

 --disable-documentation isn't meant to control installation of the
 documentation, it just turns the rules to regenerate the documentation off
 so you can configure with --enable-maintainer-mode --disable-documentation
 and then patch the source code without having to install all the tools
 needed to rebuild the docs.
