That's currently 1.0.x - for 1.2.4 I'd look at:

They aren't used by default these days.  There's code in the "query"
template which shows how you might use them, but this commented out,
and the buttons are text with the score bar drawn using CSS.  Perhaps we
should just stop shipping the images - anyone wanting images is likely
to draw their own anyway.

Are you sure you want the version number there?

Probably makes sense to use xapian-omega there.  The "omega" name has
other claimants so is a bit ambiguous - for example, there's a
rogue-like game call omega, and TeX has a program called omega.

That's a helper, not an example.  It *is* in the Debian package, but
only in the 1.2.4 packages as it is new in 1.2.4.
