So there's a magic extra CGI script which will unpack a single file from
the zip (or rar or mailfolder) and send it to the web browser?

Probably best to wait.  Unless I'm confused, I noticed a version you
posted a few days ago already, so I can take a look at that and see if
there are any useful comments I can make at this stage...
