I heartily agree. While I appreciate the attempt to help, I can see no
sense at all in having two different wikis - it will just confuse new
users and dilute effort.

Indeed - we require an account because it's the only spam prevention
method available in the ancient version of moinmoin that's currently
installed (short of reverting pages one-by-one by hand after the fact).
Recent versions of moinmoin require Python 2.3, and the box only has
2.2. Coincidentally, the OS is due to be upgraded tonight so we should
be able to upgrade soon, and can then reconsider the spam avoidance
strategy if people feel it's an obstacle to contributions (from personal
experience, I can't be bothered to create an account just to fix a typo,
but I don't mind if I'm adding substantial content).
