Currently the language support in Flax is exactly that provided by 
Xapian, which as Olly said is just stemming algorithms for certain 
languages.  For other languages, you can index without stemming, (which 
is probably happening by default for you), which will (roughly) result 
in the search engine splitting terms on whitespace and punctuation. 
This won't give good results for languages in which this isn't actually 
how words are separated, but often it works partially - I imagine this 
is what is happening for you with Thai.
