If you'd read the value ranges document as recommended, you'd have
seen that one way that date range processors use is to use
OP_VALUE_RANGE. It also suggests you use query.get_description() to
have Xapian tell you what the QueryParser has converted the query into
to achieve the query.

Unfortunately I can't see a detailed description of the OP_VALUE_*
query operators anywhere, so I'll add this to the missing
documentation list. In the meantime I'll leave Olly or Richard to
explain it :-)
