Comment:

 So reviewing this ticket, it seems that the main thing that's actually
 left to do is adding a proper API for enabling this.  I think a simple new
 flag for each of `QueryParser` and `TermGenerator` will do the trick
 nicely, and is entirely feasible to do for 1.3.4.

 There's also the mixed digits and CJK thing mentioned in comment:28 - not
 sure if that's easy to adjust or not.
